Comprehensive & Personalized Dentistry
At Andover Family Dentistry, we believe that the mouth is a gateway to better overall health. During your visit, we take several things into account: your past dental and medical history, current needs for excellent oral health, and your individual desires regarding your dental treatment. Dr. Howell keeps all these aspects in mind when he makes your treatment recommendations. Our goal is to provide the minimum amount of dentistry to get the maximum oral health benefits possible. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and that is why Dr. Howell and his profressional staff focus their efforts on early diagnosis and routine preventive care to reduce the need for costly and invasive dentistry in the future. Through this personalized approach to care, you can have a life-long beautiful and healthy smile!
Routine Exams & Dental Cleanings
In some cities, people receive fluoride from their tap water; however the water in Wichita and surrounding communities is not fluoridated. Fluoride is very important because it protects teeth from decay and can help reverse the early stages of decay. Ask Dr. Howell if you could benefit from fluoride treatments.
Oral Cancer & Orthodontic Screenings
We know kids require a unique dental experience and so we make sure we cater to their needs.
Periodontics refers to the treatment and maintenance of the gums and bone that support your teeth. Gingivitis is the early form of periodontitis, or gum disease. Typical signs of gum disease are swollen and bleeding gums. If Dr. Howell sees signs of periodontal (gum disease) during your exam, he may recommend a deep cleaning. Deep cleanings include scaling and root planing, local antibiotic treatment, and long-term maintenance plans.
Nitrous Oxide
Dental crowns improve the appearance of your smile, restore damaged and decayed teeth, and protect your teeth for years to come. Veneers are thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored material that cover the front of your tooth. They can correct stained, chipped, decayed, or crooked teeth.
Dental implants are a great option for people who are missing teeth, who are struggling with uncomfortable dentures, or who don’t want to have tooth structure removed to make a bridge. Dental implants are an effective way to replace teeth and are designed to match the color, size, and appearance of your natural teeth. They are an excellent long-term option for restoring the look and function of your smile.
Dentures are removable appliances that can replace missing teeth and help restore the look of your smile. They also make it easier to eat your favorite foods and speak better than you could without teeth. When you lose all of your teeth, your facial muscles can sag, making you look older than you really aredentures can fill out your face and profile giving you a youthful appearance. There are 3 types of dentures that Dr. Howell can recommend:
Complete Dentures
Partial Dentures
Implant-Supported Dentures
Sometimes bridges are also called fixed partial denture. This type of dental restoration replaced missing teeth with artificial teeth and literally “bridges” the gap where one or more teeth used to be.
Root canal therapy is necessary when the soft tissue inside your teeth becomes inflamed or infected. During the root canal treatment, Dr. Howell will remove the infected tissue and then clean and seal the area.
Dr. Howell practices conservative dentistry and will do his best to help you keep your teeth for a lifetime. Unfortunately, there are still times when a tooth is beyond repair and may require removal. The main reasons for extracting a tooth are:
- disease and infection
- trauma
- crowding
After an extraction, Dr. Howell can restore your smile with dental implants, a bridge, or dentures.
We have several dental treatment options that can meet a variety of budgets and restore your smile’s beauty and function. From cosmetic teeth whitening, porcelain veneers or crowns, and composite veneers to dental implants, we’ve got all your needs covered. Take a look at some of our before and after photos.
Nightguards protect our teeth and jaw from the wear and tear associated with night grinding and jaw clenching. Dr. Howell can make custom night guards so the guard fits perfectly and snuggly to your teeth.
Teeth whitening is a conservative, fast, and effective way to enhance the appearance of your smile. Over time, everyone’s teeth become stained, but teeth whitening can dramatically change the color of your teeth giving you a beautiful white smile. Dr. Howell offers custom tray whitening and in-office deep bleaching.
We know that some people feel anxious about dental visits and can even fear going to their dentist in Andover. To help you relax during your treatment, Dr. Howell offers nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas. This safe medical gas helps you feel light and calm — some people even giggle. The best part about nitrous oxide is that with just a few minutes of breathing pure oxygen, the effects from the gas are completely reversed. You don’t have to find someone to drive you home after your visit, and you don’t have to use sick time or PTO. You can get back to your normal day immediately following treatment.
We look forward to treating you at Andover Family Dentistry.
